Georgia Bird Ringing Scheme

Objectives

The Georgian Bird Ringing Scheme is an informal network of Georgian experts and international volunteers, which aims to:
  • coordinate ringing activities and the distribution of rings
  • maintain a Georgia Bird Ringing Scheme for centralized data collection and management
  • promote best practices for trapping and marking birds
  • provide training opportunities for ringers

Production and distribution of rings

  • The Georgian Bird Ringing Scheme is an initiative of Ilia State University
  • The Georgian Ringing Scheme has introduced Georgian aluminium rings in 2012, which may be used by ringers working in Georgia.
